Tricks of the Trade Sharpening the mop stick like a pencil point will help it fit into the 2x2 hole.
A damp rag holds onto the 2x2 a bit better than a dry one. It helps to flip the back edge of your cloth over the top of the 2x2 for vigorous mopping. Simply flipping the stick over exposes another section of rag for use. With a little practice, you can flip or orientate the rag around as needed without having to touch the rag. For stubborn spots, take the rag off the stick and get on your knees and scrub. If you're worried about grinding dirt into your floor, you can rinse the rag in a small pail of water or sink as needed, or keep several in a bucket nearby. Even better, use your kitchen waste basket for the rinse water and you'll have a clean trash can when you are done cleaning your floors. Garbage disposal stuck? I compost everything and don't have this problem anymore, but if yours gets stuck, take the stick part of your StickMop and cram it in the disposal (power off, please). Twist it around and often that will break free the strikers in the interior of the disposal where the food particles or bone has wedged them against the side of the unit. Much easier than crawling around under the sink trying to get the hex key in the little hole on the bottom of the unit and turning it. Got a Zen garden? Make a StickRake! Got nails in your driveway?
